WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. – Reid Health has become the second health system in the nation to launch Emmie, an artificial intelligence-powered digital assistant designed to help patients navigate their healthcare.

Developed by Epic, the company behind Reid Health’s MyChart system, Emmie can answer health-related questions, help patients schedule appointments, and pull information directly from a patient’s medical record through the MyReid portal.

According to a press release, Reid Health stated the AI assistant operates within Epic’s existing security system, meaning patient information remains protected and is not shared outside the patient’s care team.
