Earlham, John Carroll announce teacher pathway

RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College and John Carroll University have created a new four-year pathway for aspiring teachers.

The partnership allows Earlham students to earn a bachelor’s degree, a Master of Education and teaching licensure in four years.

Students will spend three years completing undergraduate coursework at Earlham before beginning John Carroll’s online graduate education program during their fourth year. Some graduate coursework will count toward both degrees, helping reduce the time and cost of earning the degrees separately.

Students also will be able to complete field placements in their home communities while taking graduate courses online.

The program is designed for students who plan early to pursue careers in education. The partnership gives Earlham students an accelerated route to teaching licensure while building on the college’s liberal arts curriculum.
