FAYETTE COUNTY, Ind. –
Whitewater Career Center Adult Education has been named a 2025-26 Indiana Adult Education Program of Excellence by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The designation recognizes adult education programs that exceed state goals and expectations in multiple areas of performance and serve as model providers of adult education services in Indiana.
Fayette County School Corp. Superintendent Jeremy Duncan credited Pasha Ferris and the center’s adult education team.
“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible work of Pasha Ferris and our entire Adult Education team,” said FCSC Superintendent Jeremy Duncan. “While we want all of our students to achieve a diploma, we recognize that sometimes life's circumstances make this hard. Whitewater Career Center Adult Education meets people where they are, helps them see what is possible, and gives them the tools and support to take that next step. Their work changes not only individual lives, but families and our entire community.”
Ferris, who has served as program coordinator for four years, said the recognition is a reflection of the dedication of the entire Adult Education team.
“It is truly an honor for our program,” Ferris said. “I have been blessed with a fabulous team of dedicated teachers behind me. We strive to create a judgment-free environment, meet adult learners where they are, and help them meet their education goals and job-training desires.”
Whitewater Adult Education holds classes in Connersville, Liberty and Rushville, as well as online, serving an average of 150 students each year. Ferris said the program’s goal is to support and encourage students throughout their journey, whether they are working toward a high school equivalency diploma or a job-training certificate.
“We love, support and encourage them along their journey to their HSE diploma or job-training certificate,” Ferris said.
Whitewater Career Center Adult Education will be formally recognized during an Indiana Association of Adult and Continuing Education ceremony on Sept. 30.
