RICHMOND, Ind. – Wayne Bank has announced a $26,000 investment in the Richmond Police Department’s drone program.

Officials say the funding will expand the unit’s capabilities and improve access to advanced equipment for emergency response operations.

According to a press release, local emergency services and first responders have shared limited resources. With the bank’s contribution, RPD has secured equipment which will be more readily available.

The investment comes as Wayne Bank says it seeks to affirm commitment to the local community and support law enforcement officials.

RPD used the funding to secure two long range thermal drones, two compact multiapplication drones, one quadruped robotic dog, and appropriate accessory equipment.

The drone team plans to showcase the equipment at upcoming community events.
