FEMA center to offer disaster assistance in Connersville

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – Fayette County residents affected by the August storms, tornadoes and flooding can receive in-person assistance from state, county and Federal Emergency Management Agency representatives Friday and Saturday in Connersville.

A FEMA Mobile Registration Intake Center will be available at Baptist Temple School, 1380 State Road 44, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. The City of Connersville shared information about the center Thursday.

Representatives will help homeowners and renters apply for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program, answer questions and provide information about available disaster assistance.

Residents with homeowners, renters or flood insurance should file an insurance claim before applying for FEMA assistance. FEMA does not duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance, but residents may qualify for federal assistance if insurance does not cover all disaster-related expenses.

The fastest way to apply is online at DisasterAssistance.gov. Applicants also can call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 for assistance.
