RICHMOND, Ind. – Richmond Municipal Airport has been awarded $1.4 million in federal funding to upgrade its terminal facilities, part of a national program aimed at modernizing airports and improving passenger services.
The grant, awarded through the Airport Terminal Program created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will go toward improvements intended to enhance safety, accessibility and the overall traveler experience at Richmond Municipal Airport.
Federal officials designed the program to help airports of all sizes replace aging infrastructure and incorporate more sustainable and accessible design features.
Local leaders say the airport is an important asset for east-central Indiana, supporting business activity, emergency response operations, aviation training and regional connectivity.
Project timelines and specific construction plans have not yet been announced.
