Wayne County Awards Downtown Revitalization Grants

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. – The Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County has awarded nearly $3 million in grants to 19 applicants through its READI Downtown Revitalization Grant Program.

The grants total $2,990,803.50 and will support projects expected to generate more than $17.2 million in total investment, including private funding.

Projects will include commercial redevelopment, building improvements and the creation of 44 new upper-story housing units. The program aims to strengthen downtowns, reduce blight and encourage private investment, according to a press release by the EDC.

A second round of funding opened Sept. 14 for businesses, commercial property owners and eligible nonprofits in 11 Wayne County communities and certain unincorporated areas.

More information and application materials are available through the Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County.
