FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Organizers are preparing for the 59th Annual Levi Coffin Days Festival, which will return to Fountain City on Sept. 19-20.
The theme celebrates both the nation’s semi quincentennial and the community’s historic role in the Underground Railroad.
The 2026 festival will carry the theme “Celebrating Freedom,” recognizing America’s 250th anniversary while highlighting the legacy of Levi Coffin, the abolitionist whose Fountain City home became one of the most active stops on the Underground Railroad.
Festival organizers are now seeking vendors, parade participants, sponsors and volunteers as planning continues for the annual event.
Levi Coffin Days began in 1968 as a fundraiser to help restore Coffin’s historic home, which sheltered thousands of freedom seekers during the Civil War. Over nearly six decades, the event has evolved into one of Wayne County’s longest-running festivals, featuring a parade, live entertainment, food vendors, shopping and family activities.
The Fountain City Lions Club has managed the festival since 1977. This year, the newly created Levi Coffin Days Entertainment Committee, organized through Fountain City Forward, will oversee parade planning and entertainment while working alongside the Lions Club.
Organizers expect the festival to feature community organizations, local businesses, antique and historic vehicles, live performances and other attractions throughout the weekend.
