RICHMOND, Ind. – The Richmond Civic Theatre will bring the iconic Addams family to the stage this month.
The show opens Sept. 18 and runs for six performances through Sept. 27. The story follows Wednesday Addams as she falls in love with Lucas Beineke, a young man from a seemingly normal Ohio family. When the two families meet for dinner, chaos follows.
Trace Lewis plays Gomez Addams, the family patriarch.
“It’s been a lot of fun to be honest with you, especially with the accent. It’s really fun to just feel a different person and finally get to just detach from normal life,” Lewis said in an interview with Dave Paxton on 101.7 The Point.
Allister Bergield plays Uncle Fester, a role he said has allowed him to create his own interpretation of the popular character.
“It is the most fun I think I’ve ever had at this theater. It is amazing just being the craziest guy on stage. I get to do whatever I want,” Bergield said.
Maya Hamilton plays Lucas’ mother, a member of the more conventional Beineke family.
“It’s very smiley compared to everybody else. So, I get to be different, which is fun,” Hamilton said.
Luke Miller plays Lucas’ father, describing his character as a stern contrast to the Addams family.
“While my character’s a very, very stern individual…by the book kind of thing,” Miller said.
The production is directed by Ryan Shaw, with Jackson Thompson as assistant director, Tammy Birch as choreographer and Jared Davis as music director.
Miller said audiences can expect “an hour and a half of pure joy and comedy.”
Performances are scheduled for Sept. 18-20 and Sept. 25-27. Tickets are available on the RCT website. The box office can also be reached at 765-962-1816.
