FAYETTE COUNTY, Ind. – The Fayette County School Corporation will begin its Summer Meal Program on Monday, June 1, offering free breakfasts and lunches to children 18 and under through July 31.
The program provides take-home meals twice a week and is intended to ensure children continue receiving nutritious food while school is not in session.
Meal distribution will take place Mondays and Fridays at two sites: Everton Elementary School and Frazee Elementary School. At Everton Elementary School, pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. At Frazee Elementary School, pickup will be from noon to 12:45 p.m.
On Mondays, families will receive four breakfasts and four lunches per child. On Fridays, families will receive three breakfasts and three lunches per child.
Children must be present at the time of pickup to receive meals. Distribution lines will form in front of each building.
Parents or guardians must complete a signed agreement form before receiving meals. The form includes permission information and the name of the authorized adult to pick up meals. Forms will be available at the first pickup.
The district said it must also verify household information through its PowerSchool student database. Children who are not currently enrolled in Fayette County School Corporation may still receive meals, but must have documentation such as a school ID, report card or medical card.
Officials noted that children may not receive both Summer Food Service Program meals and CACFP meals through a local daycare program.
The program is designed to support families during the summer months when school meals are not available.
