WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. – The Reid Health Foundation will host its second annual Adventure Course at 8 a.m. June 20 to support local athletic training programs.
The event takes place at the Indiana University East cross-country course, located at 2325 Chester Blvd. in Richmond.
Proceeds from the event support injury prevention and athletic training programs in area high schools and at IU East. Funding also benefits the Reid Athletic Training Clinic, which serves active individuals and athletes of all ages.
“Those trainers help keep student-athletes healthy and safe throughout the year through injury prevention, emergency care, rehab, and recovery,” said Hali Cartee, Reid Media Relations Specialist.
The 3-mile course features more than a dozen obstacles designed to be challenging yet accessible for participants to complete at their own pace. According to the Reid website, participants can expect to get muddy and wet during the “Serpents Slither,” a low crawl through the mud.

Cartee said she is excited to introduce several new obstacles this year.
“Each obstacle is designed with options,” said Cartee. “Some participants will fly right over obstacles, while others modify how they complete it.”
She added that participants can naturally determine their own intensity level based on comfort and ability, rather than feeling pressured to compete. Children under 12 can participate alongside an adult, which Cartee said encourages teamwork and a shared family experience.
For those who prefer not to tackle the course, a Fan Zone will be available.
“The Fan Zone gives families a way to be part of the event even if they’re not participating,” Cartee said.
The area will feature activities, snacks, local vendors, sponsor booths, and a dedicated kids’ zone with face painting and an inflatable obstacle course.
This year’s event features a red, white, and blue theme in honor of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Early registration is open, and those who sign up before June 20 will be eligible for door prizes. All participants will receive an event T-shirt, a finisher medal, and post-race snacks.
“There’s really something for everyone at Adventure course,” Cartee said. “…the event is about having fun while making a difference for local student-athletes.”
