Mooreland Free Fair to return for one more night

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. - The Mooreland Free Fair will return for one additional night following a week of severe flooding and changes to the fair schedule, the Mooreland Free Fair Board announced.

The additional night will feature food vendors, local organizations, vendors, fair merchandise and several events, including a dog show, 5K and car show.

The fair board said the decision was made after discussions about the impact of the flooding on local nonprofits, vendors and community members. Organizers said many food vendors had already purchased supplies and were able to return for the additional night.

The Mooreland Volunteer Fire Department, Blountsville Volunteer Fire Department, Blue River Valley Fine Arts, Nettle Creek FFA and Mooreland Friends Church will also participate, with proceeds supporting their respective programs and missions.

The schedule will not include carnival rides, a parade, track events or a mud bog. The board said rides were unavailable because the fair's usual provider, Poor Jack Amusements, is preparing for upcoming fairs in Ohio.

The dog show will begin with registration at 2 p.m. and judging at 3 p.m. The 5K will begin at 5 p.m., with registration from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. The car show will run from 5 to 8 p.m. on Broad Street, with registration from 3 to 5 p.m.

Organizers are also accepting nonperishable food and pet food donations.

The fair board encouraged residents to attend and support local nonprofits, vendors and community organizations.

“We can deliver something, so we will try for you,” the board said in its announcement.
