(Richmond, IN)--Wayne County Council on Wednesday approved extending the agreement that allows Wayne County to continue to dispatch first responders in Union County. Union County’s local dispatch center closed last Saturday afternoon after the last of three recent resignations. The extension was made to allow the two counties to work out a more permanent agreement. Here’s Barry Ritter on Wednesday: "We hope to have that completed for a new interlocal agreement with new terms within the next 30 to 60 days for council and commissioners in both counties to appove." Staffing was cited Wednesday as one of the primary concerns created by the permanent change.
