(Richmond, IN)--Wayne County Republicans held a caucus Thursday night to elect a prosecutor for the remainder of the year.  The caucus was made necessary by the resignation of Mike Shipman, which, according to the caucus notice, becomes effective on September 1.  Ashley Green was the only Republican on the primary ballot in May.  Shipman has been the prosecuting attorney in Wayne County since 2005.  His term had been set to end at the end of this year.  Shipman announced last year that he would not seek re-election.
