FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. — Fountain City Forward will combine two popular community events this summer on Friday, July 31.
The event will bring together the organization’s annual End of Summer Block Party and its Movies Under the Stars series for one evening of free family activities and entertainment.
The Block Party will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature activities including a bounce house, face painting, chalk art, yard games, a sucker pull with prizes and an opportunity for families to add to Fountain City’s Community Rock Snake.
Families are encouraged to bring smooth rocks to paint and contribute to the project. Hand-sized rocks or smaller are preferred, and a limited supply of rocks will be available for those who need them.
The evening will also include a Touch-a-Truck experience, where children can explore emergency, service, agricultural and commercial vehicles and meet the people who operate them.
Participating organizations include the Fountain City Police Department, Fountain City Fire Department, Williamsburg Fire Department, Reid Ambulance, Brooks Trucking, Best Way Disposal and Thurston Farms.
The event will continue a partnership between Fountain City Forward and Martin’s Country Mart, which will host its 4th Annual Customer Appreciation Day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. the same day. The event will feature giveaways, prizes, free food and customer appreciation activities.
Residents are encouraged to make a day of the celebration by attending Martin’s Customer Appreciation Day before joining Fountain City Forward at Willow Grove Park. Complimentary Neighborhood Nachos and cold drinks will be available during the Block Party.
At dusk, the evening will transition into the Movies Under the Stars series. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy free popcorn while watching a family-friendly animated movie on the big screen.
Guests can visit the Fountain City Forward information table during the event to learn more about community projects, upcoming events and ways to volunteer.
Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
