The Cambridge City Town Council held a special meeting Monday night focused entirely on flood recovery. Members approved an interlocal agreement to receive opioid?settlement funds for police equipment and accepted a donated 2011 F?250 to replace flood?damaged vehicles. They created a new flood?relief donation fund and formally accepted more than $100,000 in community donations – including $17,000 from the Wayne County Foundation, $66,000 from Wayne Bank & the Boyd family and $25,000 from former residents.

The council reallocated $217,000 of unused ARPA funds to repair the damaged water plant, approved an alcohol sales and a noise?ordinance waiver for the upcoming September 4th benefit concert, and discussed temporary relocation of town offices to the old Western Wayne school, as well as getting updated on the debris cleanup, equipment losses, rebuilding rules for damaged homes, as well as the ongoing communication challenges as residents await FEMA guidance.
