NEW CASTLE, Ind. – As Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close, Henry Community Health is reminding patients that help with mammogram scheduling and costs is available beyond October.
In an Oct. 20 update, the health system highlighted its existing financial assistance and breast health navigation services for patients who may be putting off screening.
HCH offers digital 3D mammography at its hospital campus, 1000 N. 16th St. in New Castle. Most patients can schedule a screening mammogram without a doctor’s order by calling 765-521-1415, although insurance requirements can vary.
Patients with questions about appointments, results or follow-up care can also reach HCH’s breast health navigators at 765-599-3149.
For those concerned about costs, HCH says assistance may be available to uninsured patients and those whose insurance does not cover the full expense. Its financial assistance program considers household income under federal poverty guidelines and requires documentation of income.
Applications are available online or at the hospital’s cashier’s office. Patients can call the business office at 765-521-1516 for help applying or determining which services qualify.
Screening mammograms are intended for patients without breast symptoms. Anyone who notices a lump or other breast changes should contact a healthcare provider for evaluation rather than wait for a routine screening.
More information is available on HCH’s breast health and financial assistance pages.
