REGIONAL - Halloween is a time for family fun and making memories. Communities across Fayette, Wayne, and Henry counties, along with surrounding areas, are welcoming families to enjoy local Halloween festivities. From trick-or-treating to haunted attractions and fall festivals, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the season.
Wayne County
Trick-or-Treat in the Park: Richmond Parks and Recreation will host Trick-or-Treat in the Park on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Glen Miller Park, 2200 E. Main St. The event will feature a sensory-friendly hour from 4 to 5 p.m., followed by general trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m.
Safety Village Trick-or-Treat: The Kiwanis Club of Richmond will host its annual Safety Village Trick-or-Treat on Monday, October 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Safety Village of Wayne County, 700 NW 13th St. in Richmond.
Wayne County also has several other Halloween events scheduled throughout October, including the Trail of Terror, MC Nasty's Haunted Trail, Accessible Trunk-or-Treat, and the Depot District & Main Street Trick-or-Treat.
Fayette County
Fayette County also has Halloween activities planned for October. The current county events calendar lists a First Responders Trunk-or-Treat at Roberts Park in Connersville on Tuesday, October 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Henry County
The Henry County YMCA continues its annual Halloween tradition with a Trunk-or-Treat event. The YMCA lists the event for Halloween at its location at 300 Wittenbraker Ave. in New Castle.
Gribby's Haunted Trail and Hayride is another option for those looking for a scare. The attraction is scheduled to operate every Saturday in October from 8 to 11 p.m.
Summit Lake State Park also offers seasonal fall activities, including a trunk-or-treat. The park is located at 5993 N. Messick Road in New Castle. Specific 2026 trunk-or-treat times should be confirmed with the park before publication.
Randolph County
The Randolph County Asylum and Infirmary in Winchester is a historic location that offers paranormal investigations and overnight experiences.
Union County
Downtown Liberty Trunk-or-Treat is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will take place in the Union Square parking lot across from the Union County Public Library. Liberty CAN is inviting local businesses, organizations, groups and individuals to participate.
Union County has also hosted its annual Harvest Festival in downtown Liberty, featuring activities such as carriage rides, contests, games and entertainment. However, I could not verify a 2026 date for the festival, so that information should be updated once a current schedule is released.
Preble County, Ohio
On Saturday, October 3, Oktoberfest 2026 will take place at the Preble County Fairgrounds in Eaton from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature authentic German food, live music, craft and artisan vendors, games, kids' activities, a pumpkin patch, a cornhole tournament, raffles and more. Admission is free.
The Lewisburg Haunted Cave will also return for the 2026 Halloween season. The attraction will be open Fridays and Saturdays from September 12 through October 31. The cave is located in Lewisburg, Ohio.
Darke County
Brumbaugh Fruit and Fun Farm is another fall destination in the region, offering activities such as corn mazes, hayrides, a pumpkin patch and a storybook forest. Current 2026 dates and hours should be confirmed with the farm before publication.
A couple of important changes: I removed the Fayette County events whose 2026 details I couldn't verify, rather than guessing, and I changed the Lewisburg Haunted Cave opening date from September 18 to September 12 based on its official 2026 schedule.
